The one thing I love the most in life is music. The one thing I love most about Chicago is the concertgoers. I really enjoyed feeling the love of Chicago music fanatics at the Bon Jovi concert last week. Bon Jovi performed twice in Chicago at the United Center on March 8 and 9 to two packed audiences. 

As the house lights dimmed on March 9, the crowd roared with excitement for Bon Jovi was about to begin. A huge LED screen lowered to cover the bottom of the stage. A display appeared on the screen and you could see the silhouettes of the band appearing on stage as music began to fill the stadium. Once the music hit its highest note, the LED screen lifted up and bright lights filled the stage to reveal Jon Bon Jovi, Richie Sambora, Tico Torres, David Bryan and the rest of the backup band members.

The visuals were fantastic. From the lighting, to the moving LED screens that surrounded the band, to the circular stage – everything put together formed the ultimate stadium show. While amazed by the views, I closed my eyes to feel the music by itself, and Bon Jovi could have delivered a solid show without the stimulating sights.

I opened my eyes, Jon was raising his hands up in the air and the crowd followed. The arena was a sea of arms in the air clapping to the delight of Bon Jovi’s tunes. The screams of the audience were deafening. I haven’t been to a concert with that loud of a crowd in a long time. I felt like I was back at a New Kids on the Block concert in the late '80s. Women were going gaga for Bon Jovi. Each band member was feeding off of the energy of their fans and they played for a full two-and-a-half hours without taking a break.

Music rocks my soul and the people of Chicago make me realize why I love good ol' rock 'n' roll.
